The Strength of Zion!

I'm now on the Activities committee and we had a FUN ward activity on Saturday night! At the end of this night there was a whole new meaning to "Strengthening the ward"! I had taken a long rope that we got to pull the kids and their sleds up the hill with the truck. We've always forgotten it and have never yet used it for it's intended purpose. But, I thought it would be fun to use it as a jumprope and see how many people we could get jumproping at once. Well, it was quickly picked up and became the main attraction of "tug-o-war". Towards the end of the activity the bishops family got challenged to a tug-o-war. The first family miserably lost but then a bunch of kids recruited adults to help "beat the bishops family". We were ready......we were set.......then it was GO! About five seconds into the competition we had the upper edge on the bishop and his family until the strength gave out.........the strength of the rope that is! Right near the center the rope "popped" in half and those of us on the winning side flew backwards and those on the Bishop's side flung forwards. Poor little kids were munched inbetween the bigger "kids". Everyone had some sort of injury; a bruise, a rope burn or a cut! We spent the next 10 minutes wiping up tears and kissing "boo-boos". Everyone survived and we even spent the last 30 minutes playing jumprope. It sure is good to know that our ward is "stronger" than a nylon rope!

What a fun activity. I would love to see lots of people jumping rope together at a ward activity.
